STATEN ISLAND ELECTRICAL CLUB

BIOGRAPHY

The Staten Island Electrical Club is one out of approximately twenty one different clubs within Local Union #3, I.B.E.W. We are a borough club that is made up of rank and file members like you. The club includes all divisions and charters. No members of Local Union #3 are excluded.

The club meets ten times a year, on the third Thursday of the month, excluding August and February, our summer and winter recess. We meet at 3948 Amboy Road (entrance is on Hillside Terrace) in the Great Kills section of Staten Island, New York.  Meetings begin at 5:00 p.m. Refreshments and food are available at every meeting for all to enjoy. The entrance fee is $20.00, which includes all the food and drink, along with an opportunity to win a door prize raffle. Our yearly club membership is $30.00, which allows you to enjoy all the club benefits.

The club has several social events throughout the year. In April, we have our Spring Fling dinner/dance. During the summer, we have our family picnic which takes place in Nansen Park, and in December, we have our children’s holiday party. All our events are filled with family, friends, good music, food, and drink. If you’re a sports enthusiast, we have numerous activities ranging from being part of our softball team throughout the summer months, or swinging a golf club with our members on a weekly basis and enjoying our golf outing in September. We have a fishing trip where we charter a boat. We also offer an opportunity to win a scholarship.

Throughout the year we are also involved within the community. We participate in a variety of community events from blood drives to the Notre Dame Club, bread of life, annual food drive, along with many other community events, including “Home for Heroes” and “Operation shoe box”. We help on Election Day and when called upon, we participate in all of the Local Union’s events.

At the monthly club meetings, we discuss our club committee reports and everything within the industry. There is a guest speaker at every meeting, whether it is a Business Representative to discuss their area of responsibility, a dignitary, or a politician stopping by to say hello. In addition, the Assistant Business Manager of Construction, his schedule permitting, is at every meeting and he gives a very informative report. Any questions a member may have can also be answered at this time.

Brothers and sisters, we encourage you all to please take time out of your busy lives and see for yourself what we are all about. The friendship, good times, information and education are all part of this club. Most importantly, the strength of our Union is directly proportional to our individual participation.

Thank You.
